Oath of Citizenship Ceremony
We need officials to help us put Utahn's under the Oath of Citizenship! This is a very special and unique opportunity for you to be involved in citizens' recommitting themselves to America! We are asking for people in any official capacity to do this.
Here's what you do. Call and schedule a block of time. At your designated time slot you will meet groups of people and engage them in the following dialogue:
Thank you for being here today! I have been informed that you have been through the designated process to be a True American. Is that correct? (wait for response)
How many of you have every heard the Oath of Citizenship? As Americans it is implied that we are all under the Oath of Citizenship but most of us have never heard it let alone taken it. To be a serious and dedicated American we need to know and keep our Oath of Citizenship. It is a serious promise that you will be making. It is a re-dedication of your citizenship. Are you ready to take it?
Please remember that if you are not already an American citizen, this ceremony does not take the place of your formal naturalization. In other words, it doesn’t count.
Please raise your right hand and repeat after me.
I hereby declare, on oath, (pause) that I absolutely and entirely renounce (pause) and abjure (pause) all allegiance and fidelity (pause) to any foreign prince, (pause) potentate, (pause) state, (pause) or sovereignty (pause) of whom (pause) or which (pause) I have heretofore been a subject (pause) or citizen; (pause) that I will support and defend the Constitution (pause) and laws of the United States of America (pause) against all enemies, (pause) foreign and domestic; (pause) that I will bear true faith (pause) and allegiance to the same; (pause) that I will bear arms (pause) on behalf of the United States (pause) when required by law; (pause) that I will perform noncombatant service (pause) in the Armed Forces (pause) of the United States (pause) when required by the law; (pause) that I will perform work of national importance (pause) under civilian direction (pause) when required by the law; (pause) and that I take this obligation freely (pause) without any mental reservation (pause) or purpose of evasion; (pause) so help me God.
Now turn toward the flag, place your hand over you heart and repeat after me:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Thank you for being True Americans!
You can help us stamp their passports "True American" and in a few minutes do it again! We would like you to stay for as long as you can up to several hours to administer the Oath of Citizenship!
